US to Saudi Arabia Shipping Costs: Examples by Parcel Weight and Size

Quick Overview

Shipping costs from the USA to Saudi Arabia depend on the parcel’s packed weight, dimensions, destination and selected service. Weight alone is not enough to establish a price: a bulky 2 kg parcel can attract a higher shipping charge than a compact 5 kg parcel.

The examples below help you compare shipping scenarios before ordering. They show how parcel size, 500 g billing increments and consolidation can change the amount you budget.

All package measurements are hypothetical. Any SAR prices shown use an invented tariff for explanation only. They are not current Boxit4me rates or quotations.

Which Weight Should You Use When Comparing Prices?

For these examples, we calculate dimensional weight as:

Length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 5,000

We then compare that result with the actual packed weight and round the higher figure up to the next 0.5 kg.

The divisor of 5,000 is an example assumption; confirm the divisor and rounding rules for your selected service. Boxit4me explains its 500 g billing increments and weight calculations in the chargeable and volumetric weight calculator.

Five Parcel Scenarios for a US-to-Saudi Shipping Estimate

These scenarios assume the same US origin, Saudi delivery address and shipping service. Only the parcel measurements change.

Parcel scenarioActual packed weightDimensions in cmDimensional weightExample billing weight
Small, compact parcel0.45 kg20 × 15 × 80.48 kg0.5 kg
Compact parcel just over 1 kg1.10 kg25 × 20 × 101.00 kg1.5 kg
Compact 2 kg parcel2.00 kg30 × 25 × 121.80 kg2.0 kg
Compact 5 kg parcel5.00 kg40 × 30 × 204.80 kg5.0 kg
Bulky 2 kg parcel2.00 kg50 × 40 × 2510.00 kg10.0 kg

The final row is especially important when shopping online. The parcel weighs 2 kg, but its size produces a 10 kg billing weight under these assumptions.

A “price for shipping 2 kg to Saudi Arabia” is therefore incomplete unless the quotation also accounts for the package dimensions.

How Does Billing Per 500 Grams Affect the Price?

Billing increments determine which weight band applies. They do not mean every half kilogram necessarily costs the same amount.

Weight used before billing roundingBilling weight with 500 g increments
1.00 kg1.0 kg
1.01 kg1.5 kg
1.49 kg1.5 kg
1.50 kg1.5 kg
1.51 kg2.0 kg

For example, reducing a parcel from 1.49 kg to 1.30 kg would leave it in the same billing band, assuming dimensional weight is lower in both cases.

When comparing packaging options, check whether the change actually moves the parcel into a lower band.

Worked Price Example Using a Fictional Tariff

To illustrate how weight bands can become prices, assume an invented transport tariff of:

  • SAR 80 for the first 0.5 kg
  • SAR 20 for each additional 0.5 kg

This is a teaching example only. It is not a Boxit4me tariff, market average or expected price range. It excludes insurance, service fees, surcharges and import charges.

Example billing weightCalculation using the fictional tariffIllustrative transport charge
0.5 kg80SAR 80
1.5 kg80 + (2 × 20)SAR 120
2.0 kg80 + (3 × 20)SAR 140
5.0 kg80 + (9 × 20)SAR 260
10.0 kg80 + (19 × 20)SAR 460

Under this invented tariff, the compact 2 kg parcel costs SAR 140, while the bulky 2 kg parcel costs SAR 460.

The useful comparison is the difference between their billing weights. Replace the fictional amounts with current quotes before making a purchase decision.

Consolidation Example: Three Separate Quotes Versus One Combined Quote

Suppose three eligible purchases arrive at the US warehouse in separate boxes. Each weighs 0.6 kg and measures 20 × 20 × 10 cm.

With the example divisor, each box has a dimensional weight of 0.8 kg and a billing weight of 1 kg.

Now suppose safe repacking produces one parcel weighing 1.6 kg and measuring 30 × 20 × 15 cm. Its dimensional weight is 1.8 kg, giving a billing weight of 2 kg.

ComparisonThree separate parcelsOne consolidated parcel
Actual packed weight1.8 kg combined1.6 kg
Billing weight1 kg per parcel2 kg
Transport using the fictional tariff3 × SAR 100 = SAR 300SAR 140
Additional assumed consolidation feeSAR 0SAR 20
Illustrative shipping and service totalSAR 300SAR 160

The hypothetical difference is SAR 140 before import charges and other excluded costs. The SAR 20 service fee is also invented.

For your own order, compare the sum of the separate shipping quotes with the consolidated shipping quote plus applicable service fees. A lower combined weight does not automatically produce the same percentage reduction in price.

Compare Quotes on the Same Basis

Before choosing between two US-to-Saudi shipping options, check:

Comparison pointWhat to keep consistent
Saudi destinationThe same delivery address and postcode
Parcel detailsThe same final packed weight and dimensions
Shipping serviceEquivalent service levels, or a clearly understood difference
Number of parcelsSeparate shipments versus one consolidated parcel
Included chargesTransport, handling, insurance and delivery surcharges
CurrencyThe same currency when comparing totals
TimingQuotes obtained close together, with validity checked

For example, an Economy quote to one address should not be treated as directly equivalent to an Express quote to another address.

Check the Current Price for Your Parcel

Use the international shipping cost calculator with the United States as the origin and Saudi Arabia as the destination. Follow the fields presented and provide the actual packed measurements wherever requested.

Keep actual weight separate from the billing weights calculated above. If a field asks for actual weight, enter the scale weight—not the rounded billing weight.

If the retailer cannot provide packed dimensions, treat your initial budget as provisional. Verify the quote after warehouse measurement and any repacking.

For the shopping and delivery process, see shop in the USA and ship to Saudi Arabia.

Keep Shipping Cost Separate from the Full Purchase Budget

The examples here compare transportation and selected service charges. They do not calculate the full amount required to purchase and import the goods.

Record the product price and any import charges separately, and check whether each item has already been included or prepaid. This keeps a lower shipping quote from being mistaken for a lower total purchase cost.
